“STRIKE UP THE BAND” – COMMUNITY MUSIC EVENT
Bundaberg Municipal Band was formed in 1932 with the merger of the Federal Band and the Boys Band. It has been active ever since except for the WW2 years when members left to join the Armed Forces and the Northern Command Band. It remains as the last active performing Brass Band in the region which once supported community bands in Childers, Gin Gin, Howard, Torbanlea, Apple Tree Creek and Cordalba.
‘Bundy Brass’ performs music from all genres ranging from classical and traditional brass to movie themes, swing and jazz, folk and popular rock. Their members range from 12 years old to 80+ and from beginners to seasoned hands. An eclectic group who come together at rehearsals most Monday nights and perform at concerts all for the enjoyment of playing music to their appreciative audiences.
